Dr. Hasan Abdessamad is a board-certified Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in the United States and Canada. He received his M.D. from the American University of Beirut (AUB). He then pursued OBGYN residency training at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. He practiced in Canada for 7 years during which he held academic positions at the University of Sherbrooke and the University of British Columbia before relocating to the Greater Seattle Area, USA in 2016. He has a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery and is an invited faculty at the Laparoscopic Institute of Gynecologic Oncology (LIGO) Advanced Laparoscopy Masters’ Course and AAGL: Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
A human rights advocate for over a decade, Dr. Abdessamad has focused his efforts on rights of sexual minorities and women. He has researched and lectured on lesbian and bisexual women’s health. He is cognizant in transgender health and is an active member of World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality. He is the founder and first president of the Lebanese Medical Association for Sexual Health (LebMASH). He is a cofounder of the Foundation of Hope, enhancing lives of LGBT refugees and immigrants in Canada. He is the founder of the Lebanese LGBT Media Monitor, advancing LGBT visibility in Lebanon.
